Creating a base of trusted clients is important in every industry. However, it’s equally important to build a base of potential consumers that you can for instance send e-mails to or contact personally in order to present your offer. How to do that?
First off, you need to ask yourself if you have contact information for the clients that used your services. If so, do you contact them regularly? Taking care of the client you have already won is a very important aspects of the operations of every enterprise. If you answered ‘yes’, then congratulations, you are on a good way to achieve success. If you answered ‘no’, you need to change that fast. Informing consumers, both existing and prospective, about new products and promotions and reminding them of your company is very important. So, how do you build a client base?
Building the base
In order for the clients to wish to subscribe to your base, they need to see the option of doing so. Yet, this possibility can’t be forced on them – if you decided to use a pop-up, let it appear once, when entering the website, and not after clicking on every link. If the user wants to sign up, giving him the opportunity once will be enough, but if the offer is persistent, he will get discouraged. If not a pop-up, then perhaps a form located in a visible place on several sub-pages. It’s also a good idea to inform the users what kind information will be sent to them and how often they will receive information from you. Another great way of producing a large database is using social media – you can for instance organize a contest on your Facebook page. This should substantially expand your database of contact information.
In building databases, it is also important how you will use the contact information you obtained. Nobody likes spam, so if your advertising information is sent too often, clients may get discouraged. It’s a good idea to pick particular days of the week or the month to send messages to the contacts from your database. The contents are important, too. The message should have some value fort the consumer. Inform about new products, promotions, and discounts, but also try and satisfy the client’s hunger for knowledge: advice or information on potential improvements will be appreciated.
Why is it worth it?
Even though building a client base is a laborious process, dedicating your time to it will pay off. Staying in touch with the clients allows for building strong relations with them. This makes them more loyal to your brand, meaning that they will come back more often. Additionally, information about clients allows you to adapt your offer to their needs in a better way, making them more likely to take advantage of that offer.
Creating and updating the client base is especially important for a business to prosper. Clients like being appreciated and contacting them produces stronger relations, which leads to their loyalty. Even though it’s not easy, it’s worth taking the time and effort, as the base will generate benefits in the future.
